All you had to do was turn on KDIA-AM to hear Sly and the Family Stone’s “Hot Fun In The Summertime” flying across the airwaves. San Francisco’s own contribution to the funk/soul universe knew how to make music, and “Hot Fun…” was that song that reminded you of the heat baked sidewalks of the Western Addition, my old stomping grounds.
